River Roost Brewery – White River Junction, VT

New year, new guide! Hopefully you’re all worn out on sports and done reading about how the Patriots blew it (my take: Belichick’s stubborn fault), so lets talk about beer!

I stopped into River Roost Brewery in VT on my way home from a miserably cold obstacle race Saturday. Let’s dig into the much more enjoyable part of my weekend!

Bissell Brothers Brewing Co. – Portland, ME

Last week I attended the Craft’d Company‘s Beers With the Brewer night held at Dorchester Brewing* on Wednesday, which was a really cool event. For the price of admission, you get a full pour of a beer of your choosing (although there is a featured beer), a snack (we got soft pretzels!) and got to hear from Todd Charbonneau, DB Co’s head brewer. Todd told us all about the beginning of the brewery and how he got started; he’s one of the handful of past Harpoon brewers in the area that are now doing off their own thing. Hearing from someone who was at the forefront of the craft beer wave is always super interesting!  It’s was a night full of great beer and fun talks among other avid craft beer fans. I highly recommend you check out one of their future events!

And now, I welcome you back to my popular series “How Have You Never Heard Of…?”, where we waited over an hour to bring you Bissell Brothers!

Hobbs Tavern & Brewing Co. – West Ossipee, NH

It’s that time of year again, it’s Pumpkin flavored everything time! I know some beer snobs turn their noses up at the thought of it, but screw them! There are a ton of really good beers out there that deserve their due. That’s why I’m sending out the Bat Signal: Tell me which New England based pumpkin beer is your favorite! I’d like to have a taste test and crown a NE Pumpkin Beer Champ!

With that call to action out of the way, let’s roll back the clock a bit to while I was on vacation. Join me for lunch at Hobbs Tavern & Brewing Co.!

Tuckerman Brewing Co. – Conway, NH

Football is finally back, and as I’ll say every year, it couldn’t come back soon enough. Tonight we get to watch a 5th banner get raised and with almost 100% certainty watch the Chiefs bumble their way into a 10 point loss by throwing 3 yards at a time, while Brady goes off and hits 9 different receivers for 1,000 yard and a 10 TD’s. Damn, it feel good to be a Pats’ fan, doesn’t it?

In celebration, here’s a guide to one of my favorite breweries, Tuckerman Brewing!

Mayflower Brewing – Plymouth, MA

We’re back! A little vacation and I’m ready to give right into it. We even have a nice little back up of posting, so you’ll be getting a bunch of new posts coming up!

Quick note, I attended the Brew at the Zoo event at Roger Williams Park Zoo on Saturday and although it seemed to be quite oversold (far too long of lines at every table) it was an overall well done event with a lot of cool folks to chat with from a bunch of great breweries. I’d like for them to sell about 50-100 fewer tickets next go around though, so maybe I could spend some time checking out the animals instead of waiting for the next tasters.

Now let’s get down to business, let me tell you about Mayflower Brewing.

There’s an article going around the internet titled “WE ASKED 14 BREWERS: WHAT BEER TREND NEEDS TO DIE” that is a pretty interesting read as a craft beer lover.
