It’s time for change! Rather than sticking to the one-off format that has been the Brew Guide bread and butter, your new Guide is going to consist of new breweries, updates of past breweries, brews that you need to try, and craft beer places you need to visit. I may even throw in a couple upcoming events. Basically, it’ll be a one stop shop for every type of post I’ve done before!
Here’s the first edition, where a quest to find Rhode Islands best donut also meant a heavy dose of RI’s best breweries!

Last week I attended the Craft’d Company‘s Beers With the Brewer night held at Dorchester Brewing* on Wednesday, which was a really cool event. For the price of admission, you get a full pour of a beer of your choosing (although there is a featured beer), a snack (we got soft pretzels!) and got to hear from Todd Charbonneau, DB Co’s head brewer. Todd told us all about the beginning of the brewery and how he got started; he’s one of the handful of past Harpoon brewers in the area that are now doing off their own thing. Hearing from someone who was at the forefront of the craft beer wave is always super interesting! It’s was a night full of great beer and fun talks among other avid craft beer fans. I highly recommend you check out one of their future events!
And now, I welcome you back to my popular series “How Have You Never Heard Of…?”, where we waited over an hour to bring you Bissell Brothers!

It’s that time of year again, it’s Pumpkin flavored everything time! I know some beer snobs turn their noses up at the thought of it, but screw them! There are a ton of really good beers out there that deserve their due. That’s why I’m sending out the Bat Signal: Tell me which New England based pumpkin beer is your favorite! I’d like to have a taste test and crown a NE Pumpkin Beer Champ!
With that call to action out of the way, let’s roll back the clock a bit to while I was on vacation. Join me for lunch at Hobbs Tavern & Brewing Co.!

Football is finally back, and as I’ll say every year, it couldn’t come back soon enough. Tonight we get to watch a 5th banner get raised and with almost 100% certainty watch the Chiefs bumble their way into a 10 point loss by throwing 3 yards at a time, while Brady goes off and hits 9 different receivers for 1,000 yard and a 10 TD’s. Damn, it feel good to be a Pats’ fan, doesn’t it?
In celebration, here’s a guide to one of my favorite breweries, Tuckerman Brewing!

So, in a rare turn of events, I took a weekday trip! And here I thought this would be a light month. Hooray for keeping those expectations low and delivering anyway!
Now a place that needs zero introduction…
Continue reading “Treehouse Brewing Co. – Charlton, MA”
Good day for the ol’ Brew Guide today, as we finally hit 1,000 followers on Instagram! As a token of my appreciation for all the love and support I’ve received, I plan on running a 1k giveaway starting next Monday! Why not just start it now, you ask? I’m going to try to curate some excellent hard to find brew, and that takes the extra mile. As a hint, there will be some recent purchases from Trillium included, which you may have seen a post about. I’ll also drop hints on my Instagram story once everything has been acquired. So if you don’t already, make sure you’re following @nebrewguide on Insta and you might get hooked up!
Now let’s head to the whaling hub of Massachusetts, with Moby Dick Brewing in New Bedford!

August is going to be very busy, unfortunately not really in the brewery hopping sense. Some people happen to be getting married and are really putting a damper on the ol’ Brew Guide travels. But, towards the of the month, you’ll be getting a bunch of new spots as I head up north for a whole week. I know I’ll at least be hitting Tuckermans (and might actually take enough pictures to post about it this time) and be revisiting Woodstock Inn, but I need more suggestions! If it’s an hour(ish) away from Conway, NH I’ll take the drive. Post in the comments or shoot me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org)!
Speaking of finally visiting places and taking enough pictures (barely), I spent some time at Night Shift on Saturday…let’s talk about it!
Continue reading “Night Shift Brewing – Everett, MA”
I should apologize for something. It’s been a real long time since I’ve given a Marvel update. Don’t worry though, I’ve still been on top of it!
Spiderman was a fantastic movie in case you somehow missed it. Tom Holland is waaaay better than Andrew Garfield and Michael Keaton sure can play a bird like no other. And then the ComicCon trailers for Thor & Defenders came out and look damn amazing. It’s a good time to be a Marvel fan, so much great stuff is happening.
And this concludes our Marvel minute. Now onto the beer with Newport Storm!
Continue reading “Newport Storm – Newport, RI”
With all the excitement about the “I Drink New England” Shirts being released yesterday and my first try at beer journalism (please check it out and let me know what you think), I forgot to talk about the We’re Funk’d festival on What’s Goin’ Down!
Night Shift and Springdale put together an awesome first year event with a lot of really fantastic sour and wild beers. The German BSV Center in Walpole was a nice venue with the perfect set up for such and event. Next year should be a must attend for anyone that enjoys a bit of Sour Patch tongue. Only critique, hopefully next year they can get a few more food options and a bunch more porta-potties.
Time to put a wrap on Vermont for the time being, with a stop into an old favorite of mine, Magic Hat Brewing Co.
